Which SmartSigner plans can collect payments?
Every plan can collect Stripe payments at signing, including Free. The difference is the SmartSigner platform fee on each payment — 2% on Free, 1% on Starter, and 0% on Growth and Enterprise — taken on top of Stripe's standard processing fee.
Can I use SmartSigner without collecting payment?
Yes. SmartSigner supports sign-only documents on every plan, so you can send agreements for signature even when no payment is required.
Can clients pay by bank transfer instead of card?
Yes. For one-time US-dollar payments you can let clients pay by bank account (ACH) at signing. Bank payments carry a much lower processing fee than cards — roughly 0.8%, capped at $5 per payment, instead of about 3% — so they are a good fit for larger deposits and retainers. Enable it per template in the payment section.
Can one document include both a one-time payment and a recurring payment?
Yes. SmartSigner is built for service workflows such as a one-time setup fee plus an ongoing monthly retainer in the same signed agreement.
Do paid plans include a free trial?
Starter and Growth include a 7-day free trial so service teams can test signing, templates, payment blocks, and tracking before committing.
Do clients need a SmartSigner account to sign and pay?
No. Clients can open a private signing link, complete required fields, sign, and continue to payment without creating a SmartSigner account.
Can I upgrade later as my team sends more agreements?
Yes. Start with the plan that fits your current document volume and upgrade when you need more sends, more templates, recurring payments, or team workspace controls.
