Refund & Billing Policy

Not legal advice. This is general template language provided for convenience. It has not been reviewed for your specific situation — have a licensed attorney review it before you rely on it.

This policy is part of the Terms of Service and explains two different things: (1) your subscription to SmartSigner, and (2) payments you collect from your own clients.

1. Your SmartSigner subscription

Paid plans are billed in advance on a recurring basis. If a free trial is offered, it converts to the selected paid plan at the end of the trial unless you cancel before it ends.

You can cancel anytime from your account. Cancellation is processed at the time you request it and stops future billing. You keep access to paid features through the end of the period you have already paid for — that is, until what would have been your next billing date — after which access ends. We do not provide prorated refunds for the remainder of a paid period, and subscription fees are otherwise non-refundable except where required by law.

2. Payments you collect from your clients

When you collect payment from a Signer through the Service, that payment is processed by Stripe on your own connected Stripe account, and you are the merchant of record. That means refunds, cancellations, chargebacks, and disputes for those payments are between you and your client and are handled through your Stripe account and your own refund terms. SmartSigner does not hold those funds and cannot issue refunds for them. Stripe’s processing fees on those payments are charged to your Stripe account and are separate from SmartSigner’s fees.

3. Platform fees

SmartSigner may take a platform fee on payments you collect, as disclosed in the app. That fee is for use of the Service and is separate from Stripe’s processing fees.
